Climate Action

SDG 13 focuses on the importance of immediate and concrete action to reduce the increasingly noticeable impacts of climate change around the world, such as rising global temperatures, flooding, droughts, and extreme weather.

SDG 13, which aims to address climate change, has three targets: strengthening resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related disasters and natural disasters; integrating climate change mitigation actions into national policies, strategies, and planning; and improving education, awareness, and capacity of people and institutions in mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction, and early warning of climate change.

In short, climate change has a positive impact on the inconsistency of the natural balance, which will indirectly worsen environmental damage. In this context, international collaboration plays a very important role, whereby developed countries are encouraged to assist developing countries through funding, transfer of environmentally friendly technology, and improvement of human resource capacity. Therefore, SDG programs that focus on Climate Action have become an alternative in addressing climate change globally.

Universities have a strategic role in achieving this goal by developing renewable energy research, innovating environmentally friendly technologies, and integrating climate change issues into the curriculum. Furthermore, universities can serve as role models through green campus policies, such as energy efficiency, waste management, and greening campus areas. Students can also be involved in community service programs to educate the public about climate mitigation and adaptation.
